To lead the global movement toward environmental sustainability and the use of recycled materials, Cadwell has announced the launch of its innovative CADcrylic™ Series — a new line of eco-friendly ADA-compliant signs. This product line combines two groundbreaking materials, Recrylic® and NovaCryl®, to create ADA signs made from 95% recycled content. These modern ADA signs are designed to reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and provide cost-effective solutions compared to petroleum-based alternatives.
Innovative Features of CADcrylic™
The CADcrylic™ Series offers a creative and sustainable solution for designers and fabricators who aim to meet LEED specifications and recycling goals. By bonding Recrylic® and with our photopolymer ADA sign, Cadwell provides a versatile solution that combines the best features of both products resulting in a 95% recycled material sign.
Recrylic® is the world’s only line of certified recycled acrylic. It looks, performs and costs the same as virgin cast acrylic, while reducing carbon emissions by 90%. Known for its durability and aesthetic value, traditional acrylic is a commonly used material in ADA signs.
The CADcrylic™ series features a wide selection of colors, patterns, textures and finishes, making it an excellent choice for ADA-compliant signage. Cadwell’s eco-friendly design caters to businesses and institutions committed to environmental stewardship and meeting LEED certification.
The Importance of ADA-Compliant Signs
Cadwell’s ADA-compliant signs are designed to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities, aligning with the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These signs must include specific elements such as tactile lettering, high contrast between text and background, and Braille translations to accommodate those with visual impairments.
Cadwell already manufactures CADcrylic ™ADA signs for customers across New England. The new CADcrylic™ line will continue to meet ADA requirements while supporting sustainability goals. As part of CADcrylic™ program, Recrylic® and Cadwell can provide a free carbon savings estimate, showing directly how clients can make a positive impact on saving the planet.
Early adopters of Cadwell ADA signs include colleges, universities, hospitals, and large office buildings focused on meeting LEED goals. This initiative reflects a growing trend in commercial and institutional sectors to embrace sustainable practices and utilize recycled materials.
Environmental and Business Benefits of Recycling and Using Recycled Materials
Recycling plays a critical role in reducing the environmental impact of waste. By repurposing materials like acrylic, industries help decrease plastic waste in landfills and oceans, cutting down on environmental pollution. Using recycled materials such as Recrylic® and CADcrylic™ not only lowers carbon emissions associated with producing virgin plastics but also conserves energy and resources, as recycled production requires less intensive processing. When our CADcrylic™ signs are designed with a .25” or .375” base material, the total sign composition is 95%+ recycled material.
Moreover, encouraging the utilization of recycled materials supports a green economy, where resources stay in use for as long as possible with less use of petroleum products. This reduces dependency on finite petroleum-based products and fosters innovation in sustainable manufacturing. In addition, these new products are now priced at the same cost as “virgin acrylic” allowing customers to buy a superior product at the same price as traditional sign products.
“Cadwell’s commitment to integrating recycled materials into their production represents a significant step forward for eco-friendly practices in the signage industry,” said Stephen Moylan, Co-President of Cadwell Design and Sign. “The CADcrylic™ Series is a testament to how thoughtful design can align with environmental responsibility while meeting the needs of modern customers.”
